8 ACTIVE ADVENTURES FOR YOUR AFRICAN SAFARI

That long flight from the US and while sitting for twice a day game drives might put you off going to Africa.

It’s a regular objection I hear from my active clients who are used to “doing “stuff on vacation.

Here are my top 8 active adventures you can add to your safari, some maybe a little more strenuous but there is something to get everyone moving in Africa.

White Water Rafting - There are a variety of rapid levels for the beginner to the expert. And you get bragging rights for rafting on the Zambezi, Nile, or Tana Rivers.

Riding Safari- You’ll be able to get closer to game when you are on a horse, so some amazing pictures. This is available in the Masai Mara and Laikipia areas of Kenya. The Laikipia area is best for novice riders.

Shark Cage Diving-Cape Town, South Africa- You’ll be in the area known as “Shark Alley”, considered one of the best places in the world to encounter a Great White. Don’t worry you’ll be with experts and researchers on board your boat.

Quad Bikes-an interesting way to explore Laikipia area in Kenya, Jinja in Uganda and Karatu area in Tanzania.

Marine Parks snorkeling or diving- East Africa’s coast boasts white sand beaches and abundant marine life. If you are lucky enough, you’ll get to swim with dolphins in their natural habitat. This is one of the world’s unsung areas for scuba diving.

Mountain biking or walking safaris- available in several parks and private reserves you’ll be able to see the small animals you might miss on a traditional game drive. It gives you a chance to burn off those calories from those gourmet meals you’ll be eating at your lodge.

Gorilla Trekking-This is one of the most coveted experience for adventurers at Bwindi National Forest in Uganda and Volcanoes National Park in Rwanda. You’ll be hiking through untouched mountain rainforest in search of a Silverback gorilla family. Once you locate them you can observe them for an hour before the hike back to your lodge.

Climb Mt. Kilimanjaro-The ultimate African adventure for active clients. It’s not a technically difficult climb and is suitable for active travelers in good health. Of course, we work with a supplier who has on their own ground operation who offer the safest and most ethical way to climb one of the world’s great mountains.

See you don’t need to just sit around in Africa. If you are ready for an active safari contact us. We’d love to create a safari geared to your level of adventure.
